    McNeel Literacy

    Here at McNeel Middle School we recognize and value the importance of literacy. We view the enhancement of students’ literacy as key to enhancing student achievement. The McNeel Literacy Initiative supports reading, writing, listening and speaking through both professional development and support offered by the literacy and data coach. Additionally positive incentive programs are being created to encourage students to embrace literacy. These literacy incentive programs and professional development topics are accessible to both school staff, students, parents and community members and include:



    • Got Books?” - A book review podcast in which students interview educators and professionals about books they enjoy reading. Select the link to the left to listen to a podcast.

    • Read On Wisconsin” - A book club in which students participate once a week and read selections selected by the Wisconsin Govenor’s wife, Jessica Doyle.
    • Literacy Strategies – Strategies introduced and incorporated into classroom instruction to enhance literacy learning in all content areas.
